Services / Visas and work permits

Work permits

A work permit is tied to the employer, the position and the place of work written on it. Change any one of them without amending the permit and the work becomes work outside its conditions.

SCOPE

What this covers

  • First applications, and renewals in step with the visa cycle
  • Checking the registered capital and the Thai-to-foreign employee ratio before filing
  • Amending the permit on a change of position, workplace or scope of work
  • Notifying the authority of hirings and terminations within the time limits
  • Work permits through the One Stop Service Centre for BOI-promoted companies
  • Checking exposure on occupations reserved for Thai nationals

PROCESS

How it proceeds

  1. 01

    Check eligibility

Paid-up registered capital, the number of Thai employees, and the nature of the work itself.

  2. 02

    Both sides of the file

The employer's documents and the employee's, including qualifications and a medical certificate.

  3. 03

File with the Department of Employment

The application is filed and the permit issued, with the applicant already holding a proper immigration status.

  4. 04

    Keep it current

Renew before expiry, and amend the permit every time something written on it changes.
