BOI investment promotion certificate BOI
The certificate issued by the Office of the Board of Investment to a project approved for promotion by the Board under the Investment Promotion Act B.E. 2520 (1977), carrying tax and non-tax privileges.
IN PRACTICE
What it means in practice
Promotion is granted to a project, not to a company, and the privileges attach to the promoted activity alone; income from anything else stands outside them. The privileges also carry conditions: the investment plan, the capacity and the opening of the project are part of what was approved, and reporting continues after the certificate issues. Two things are commonly missed. The timing of the application matters, and it should be settled before expenditure on the project begins. The certificate does not by itself remove the other licences the business needs.
